WWF vs UFC

WWF vs UFC

I think the sport has become a joke in the worst way. What once started out as a respectful sport has pretty become, like so many other things in this world plastic.

There are no half naked bikini clad women, (which I do miss) prancing around in the ring between rounds, or instigating their own fights outside the ring. The announcers are real. There is no yelling, no egging each fighter to get them psyched to get into that ring and get the crap beat out of them. You see two fighters who worked their butts off getting to the level where he is at that moment. And you hear of his dreams to further his career.

Yes there are problems plaguing this sport as well. You have fighters who absolutely hate each other. You also have friends who square off with each other as well. But the theatrics and the bull is not present in the production of the fights. The respect for the sport is still quite present. It hasn’t turned into a circus. Most importantly, my blood pressure doesn’t go through the roof when I hear someone bad mouthing another fighter just to get a rise. Maybe it will one day. I hope not. Maybe every sport at one point becomes a joke.

In the meantime, I will break open a cold Canadian, dream about the bikini clad women walking the ring with the card high above their heads, and continue watching UFC. At least I know that is real.
