Movie Review: Clash of the Titans

Page 1
“Clash of the Titans" is the ultimate struggle for power between men and gods. After Hades kills his family, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus.
Plot
Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus sets out to defeat Hades before he unleashes hell on earth. Io (Gemma Arterton), Perseus’ spirit guide, tells him that it is his destiny to rescue the city of Argos from Hades and the Kraken.
Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds, leading a daring band of warriors, including Draco (Mads Mikkelsen), an experienced soldier who encourages the defiant Perseus to make use of his god-given abilities. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, they will only survive if Perseus can accept his gifts as a demigod, defy his fate and create his own destiny.
Impression
The action scenes are big and the CGI is bigger. The monsters are everything you would expect from a movie like this and the action is there to match it. However, the film seems very hurried, attempting to get from one action scene to action scene as quickly as possible. This leaves a very empty story and makes the entire film feel shallow, unlike the original, which had a rich story. Although it bears the same title, this is not a faithful adaptation of the Harryhausen's classic film or even a story about the original Perseus myth. This film is very different from the original and vastly different from mythology.
Verdict
"Clash of the Titans" is also presented in 3D, which is supposed to “make the gods even more formidable” and “the creatures even more fearsome.” That did not happen. Often, you may find yourself compelled to remove the 3D glasses, as lines are blurry and sometimes seem unfocused. If you are going to watch this film, we recommend 2D. 2.5 stars out of 5
