Interview: Jason Aldean

JA: I don’t know. I would say fortune would be my answer. I mean, I didn’t get into music to become famous and I didn’t get into music to become rich either – I got into because I liked it. Fortune would allow me to retire so that’s the only reason I am saying it.
SM: What’s the best thing about performing?
JA: My favorite thing is the first 30 seconds when I am on stage. That is when you get that initial reaction from the crowd. That 30 seconds is the spark that lights the fuse for the rest of the show. That is really my favorite part of it. You wait around for a bit for us but we have been waiting around all day for our chance to play on the stage for that hour and a half, or whatever it is. So you sit around all day waiting for that first few seconds where everybody is getting all crazy. That’s why we sit around all day. That’s what makes it all worth it.
SM: What's next for you?
JA: We usually, right around thanksgiving, we take off for about two and a half, maybe three, months. All December, all January and most of February. And we go into the studio during that time and start working on the new record. Right now we are just trying to find songs and narrow down songs that we want to cut. That’s usually our time period that we go in and start putting together our next album, even if we go in and record 5 or 6 songs just to get it started on. But we are getting ready to release the next single off of this album, which is called the ‘Truth.’ We may release 4 or 5 singles off this album so we really don’t know when the next album will be out but we will be working on it over the next couple months.
SM: We’re a men’s general interest magazine, what is something you would like men around the world to know? Any advice for them to live by?
JA: I don’t know. I don’t think I really have any wisdom. Stay out of trouble. Good luck. Stay away from women because they will burn you, haha.
SM: Any last words?
JA: I am good. It’s all good. Thanks!
