“And how does it feel to be loved by so many?” was the question I quickly followed up with.  It took only seconds for John to jump in and say wryly that it involved, “a lot of trips to the doctor”.  All of a sudden, everyone had burst into hysterical laughter.  For a few moments, we all enjoyed the joke and as the mirth subsided and we regained control of ourselves, I continued the interview by asking IllScarlett if they had ever thought of experimenting with other music styles and genres.  Swave adamantly replied, “As it was from beginning to now, it will be the same, give or take a couple instruments.  It’s pretty much the same direction and will pretty much stay the same.”

On a roll now and feeling comfortable, I asked another question about their newfound fame, “how about at home with your friends and family?  How did it affect them?”  Will replied, “they are just proud of us and glad to know that we are succeeding.” John interjected, “a lot of name drops”, and Alex added, “yeah, that’s how they get laid all the time”.  Once again, we all found ourselves laughing at the joke but Alex continued on a slightly more sober note, “but seriously our parents are still very proud of us and respect what we are doing and are very supportive; just genuinely happy for us”.

To wrap up the interview, I wanted to get IllScarlett’s advice to the men who read this magazine.  This is what they came up with;
“MAN UP”, the band said in unison.
“Stay in school”, Alex answered.
“Get that blood work done”, John exclaimed, and finally,
“Use protection; use 3 if you have to”, Will cut in laughingly as the jokes and witty banter continued between all four guys, which brought my time with these amazing artists to a close.  Once more, I thanked them for their time and honesty and we all went our separate ways.

My encounter with IllScarlett was a blast.  When I went into the interview, nervous and suffering from first-interview jitters, the last thing I expected was to have that much fun.  They were humble, laid back and knew how to have a great time.  They also weren’t afraid to throw around a dirty joke or two, even at their own expenses which added to their down-to-earth personalities.  They are very proud that their music has been able to connect with so many people and that fans around the world can relate to their music and can’t wait to get back on the road, doing what it is they do best; entertaining their fans.
